Arioso and Camerata

Seattle Children’s Chorus presented “Once Upon a Christmas: Stories of the Season”, featuring the voices of 200 children and youth, ages 7 through 18, under the direction of Artistic Director, Kris Mason.  All four levels of the choir performed beloved carols and favorite songs of Christmas – with plenty of opportunities for the audience to sing-along – in the opening performance of the choir’s 21st season – “A Season of Storytelling”.

As we look ahead, we are excited about our two very special highlights.  In March, Arioso will represent SCC at the Regional Conference of the American Choral Directors Association in Seattle.  This is truly an honor! Also, both Arioso and Camerata are making plans to travel abroad in July.  We look forward to attending the International Eisteddfod in Llangollen, Wales.

Seattle Children’s Chorus begins 2010 rehearsal’s in January and looks forward to learning new music in preparation for the March 7th concert, MY SOUL IS A WITNESS-STORIES OF FAITH, which will be presented at the First Presbyterian Church of Seattle.  This concert will feature hymn arrangements, sacred music, gospel songs and spirituals…..as we continue to tell our story through song.  Tickets will go on sale on February 9th.

Camerata has been invited to perform for the Edmonds Uited Methodist Church Organ Dedication Concert on Sunday, February 7th at 3:00 pm as part of the church’s Organ Benefit Concert Series.  This concert is the culmination of many years of planning ad dreaming for a new pipe organ.  Camerata is honored to be a part of this concert series.

Camerata had the opportunity to perform for some of the finest and most recognized music professionals in the country at the Heritage Festival of Gold in San Francisco, May of 2009.  The adjudicators and clinicians for the event included Eph Ehly, André Thomas and Randall Stroope among others.  Only choirs of the highest caliber were invited to participate in the festival.  The festival venue was at the beautiful St. Ignatius Church in San Francisco.
