SCC Music Camp 2017

Join us for a fun and educational trip through the Disney song book!

This year we are offering two different camp sessions.

Disney Showcase (Ages 8-14):
August 14th-18th
Our five day camp offers our older campers the opportunity to grow artistically as they express themselves through music and movement. Campers will participate in the camp choir, receive private voice coaching from our highly qualified staff, and participate in staging and choreography of Disney scenes. The camp will culminate in a showcase performance on Friday morning where our campers will show off what they have worked on.

Minnie’s Playhouse (Ages 5-7):
August 16th-18th
This camp offering will feature a shorter camp week for our young singers. This will be a fantastic three day, hands on experience of Disney’s greatest music for children. The Minnie Campers will also perform at the showcase performance on Friday morning!

Our instructors:
Kris Mason, founder and Artistic Director of SCC will serve as our Camp Director, bringing 38 years of choral and vocal experience to the week’s activities. Campers will take part in group choral work, and receive individualized vocal coaching. Kris founded the Seattle Children’s Chorus in 1989. Under Kris’ leadership, the organization has grown from one small neighborhood choir to a recognized and respected choral arts program, offering six choral levels to young musicians between the ages of three and eighteen. Along with her work as Artistic Director, Kris conducts Arioso and Intermezzo, the upper and intermediate level treble choirs.

Molly Mason, an alum of the Seattle Children’s Chorus, will be part of our camp staff for the week. Molly will be the voice coach for older voices and our Broadway Scenes Director. Molly has served as the Music Director of the New Jersey Repertory Theatre, a large children’s theatre program. She also maintains a full voice and piano studio. Molly is eager to return to the Seattle area for an exciting week of music making.

Our week will conclude with a special performance that features all campers.
